I received the Cintas Fellowship for painting in 1976. This monetary grant allowed me to pursue my series of paintings based on the theme of my Cuban heritage.

The Cintas Fellowship was established to help younger artists of Cuban lineage pursue their careers. Awards are given in a number of areas including architecture, literature, music composition, and the visual arts.  The Cintas Foundation web site has more information.

The Bernal Gallery in Chicago organized a one-man show of my work in 1977. The show consisted of my Cuban Series of paintings and drawings.

One of the drawings in the Cuban Series was selected for the Chicago and Vicinity Show Works on Paper in 1978. It was displayed for a few weeks at the Art Institute of Chicago.

I have also exhibited in numerous other shows in the Chicago area.
